  1. Tell us a little about the founding and development of your organization?
    Infant of Prague Adoption Service was founded in 1953 by Catholic priests and laypersons. It was part of Catholic Charities until the 1990’s when it separated and became a secular non-profit.
  2. How are your adoption home study and your organization unique?
    With 65 years of experience in adoption, our agency has developed a reputation of trust in the adoption community. Our social workers are known for their thoroughness and diligence.
  3. Why are you passionate about adoption and the home study process?
    Building families through adoption is our passion. Getting to know families through the home study process is something we take pride in as we take our role of vetting families very seriously, so that any family planning to place a child for adoption can be confident that they have chosen a safe and loving home for their child.
  4. How long is an adoption home study valid?
    For independent adoptions in California, one year for a home study only, two years if the family was in an adoption program through an agency. The services we would be offering through your site would be valid for one year.
  5. Approximately how much time is necessary to complete an adoption home study by your organization?
    We anticipate a turnaround time of 8 to 12 weeks from the time all documents are received from the prospective adoptive family.
  6. Can adoptive parents use a home study completed by your organization to adopt a child born in another state?
    The studies would be valid in California and other states typically accept them as the home study is completed by the laws and regulations in the adoptive family state of residence.

  9. What is some advice you can give to potential adoptive families about the home study process? What should they be prepared for?
    It is a paper intensive process, but access to an on-line portal is made available for a nominal fee. They should also prepared for a lot of personal questions, medical, financial and psychological. Interviews may be done in your home or our offices, whichever is your preference. Our social workers are compassionate and caring and understand that the process is stressful for prospective parents. They strive to make the experience as comfortable and easy as possible, knowing that families often become anxious about the process. Our social workers will help to set your mind at ease as they guide you through the home study process.
  10. What do your home study social workers look for in a home and a family when they visit potential adoptive families' homes?
    Aside from the basic requirements of safety (stored medications, pool fencing, etc.) suitability of the prospective parents to raise a child based on their past history.
  11. Are you Hague accredited, and if not, does your international home study comply with Hague International Standards?
    We are not Hague accredited.
  12. Do you have experience in completing the home study and working with international placement companies?
    We do not provide international services.
  13. Are there other services and benefits you would like to share about your company?
    We are a small, well-established agency with a statewide reputation for excellent service since 1953. In addition to pregnancy counseling and adoption preparation, we offer lifelong counseling to all members of the adoption triad.
