Oklahoma Home Study FAQ

  1. Tell us a little about the founding and development of your organization?
Oklahoma Home Study was founded in the year 2000 by owner/director Chris Foell, who is a licensed professional counselor with over 20 years experience. The agency was created to provide home studies and post placement supervision and reports throughout the state of Oklahoma. Oklahoma Home Study is a stable, financially and ethically responsible private, non-profit agency that will be in business for years to come.
  2. How are your adoption home study and your organization unique?

Oklahoma Home study is unique in that it is the only licensed adoption agency in Oklahoma that exclusively provides adoption home studies, post-placement reports and post-placement supervision services. In addition, Oklahoma Home Study is a non-profit agency – a status that many agencies and countries require – a home study provider from both a state licensed adoption agency and a non-profit agency.

Oklahoma Home Study does not have the expense of a brick-andmortar store front building and thus is able to provide home studies at reasonable fees while still providing the highest standard of regulation, oversight, experience and professional accreditations. With Oklahoma Home Study you get the highest standard in a product available, for the same price or less than from others who offer you less credentials. You will be able to use a home study from Oklahoma Home study with more flexibility and at more agencies and companies than you would with a adoption home study from an individual or a for-profit agency.

  3. Approximately how much time is necessary to complete an adoption home study by your organization?
This is dependent on the type of home study being conducted (International, domestic, state agency, guardianship, disputed custody) … an average of all home study types would be approximately 8 to 12 weeks. Oklahoma Home Study has an option of a “rush study”.
  4. Can adoptive parents use a home study completed by your organization to adopt a child born in another state?
    Yes
  5. If you complete my home study, do you also have to complete my post-placement visits?
Oklahoma Home Study does not have to complete your post-placement visits if you are completing a private, domestic, in-state adoption. For most all other types of adoptions, yes, the same agency that completed your home assessment is required to complete your post-placement visits. Oklahoma Home Study is able to complete a post-placement visit for a family who has moved into Oklahoma from another state. Oklahoma Home Study is a financially and ethically stable agency that will continue to be here for you to complete your post-placement reports and updates.
  6. Are you Hague accredited, and if not, does your international home study comply with Hague International Standards?
Oklahoma Home Study does meet the Hague International Standards to be both an exempt provider and a supervised provider. Oklahoma Home Study is exempted from being an primary Hague accredited agency as Oklahoma Home Study does not place children for adoption, but rather, exclusively provides home studies and post placement reports.
  7. Do you have experience in completing the home study and working with international placement companies?
Yes, Oklahoma Home Study works together with all international placement companies/agencies in all states that provide adoption placement from all foreign countries. As an adoptive parent you will want a home study agency/provider who will make contact with your chosen international adoption company/agency and work closely with them in providing a finished home study that will meet USCIS requirements, country of origin specific requirements, international adoption agency requirements, Hague requirements(if applicable), Federal requirements and State law requirements.
